When I was 16/17 years old we had:
Religious Education (at that age you could actually opt out of it if you preferred)
Italian (Elective Subject)
More French (Elective Subject)
In the main subjects we had two or three major tests/exams each “semester”, each two hours minimum (later up to three hours).
And you don’t get to choose the timetable at all (except for the elective subjects). You have all of them all year, every week.
It’s pretty much impossible to get perfect grades in all of them - I mean, some of my teachers were insane.
I honestly don’t know how I survived it, juggling these more than a dozen subjects, I just remember that we were under a lot of pressure (mostly from our parents) to get good grades.
I just re-read one of my old diaries and and apparently at one point I was ready to either jump out of the window or stop eating.
